Texas Department of Public Safety investigating death of Borger man in Potter County Jail

POTTER COUNTY, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed on Wednesday that officials are investigating the recent death of a Borger man who was in custody in the Potter County Jail.

According to Texas DPS officials, the Texas Rangers were called to investigate the Friday death of 33-year-old Josiah Johnson of Borger, though officials said no further information was available as of Wednesday morning amid the ongoing investigation.

Potter County Sheriff Brian Thomas further confirmed that the Texas Rangers were called to investigate Johnson’s death, but noted no further available information.

Texas DPS officials said that the findings of the investigation will be turned over to the Potter County District Attorney’s Office.
