The principal of Duncan Middle School has been charged with domestic battery after police say he kicked his wife.Now, that principal has been reassigned to a different school district job, pending the results of the School District of Palm Beach County's internal investigation into what happened.Investigators with the Jupiter Police Department say they were called to56-year-old Phillip D'Amico's home in Jupiter on Wednesday at about 8:25 p.m. after someone from the residence called 911 and then hung up the phone.Your neighborhood: Local coverage from WPBF 25 NewsWhen officers arrived, they say D'Amico's wife exited the home and told them she didn't want her husband to be arrested. D'Amico and his wife then began arguing in the doorway about what had happened before officers arrived.More officers then arrived to investigate the scene. She then told officers that D'Amico threw a picture at her and kicked her in the leg, and that this behavior had been repetitive. Investigators say when officers told D'Amico's wife he would be arrested, she attempted to reverse her story before sticking with her original statement.Officers say Phillip D'Amico told them the argument was over his wife being unfaithful and "other marital matters," but he denied kicking her or throwing a picture at her.He was arrested with no further incident. He was then released from the Palm Beach County jail on his own recognizance. He appeared in court on Thursday and his next court appearance is set for April 17. The school district has reassigned D'Amico to a "non-student contact department" pending the results of its internal investigation into what happened.
