Local Albertsons ban Eugene Weekly distribution, one location reverses
Eugene Weekly discovered in March that it had been disallowed from distributing its printed editions in local Albertsons stores. According to the Weekly’s editor Camilla Mortensen, the alternative-weekly newspaper became aware of the ban when a few of their delivery drivers had been notified that they were no longer welcome at the grocery chain.
Two Oregon towns featured on HGTV list of ‘must-visit’ movie filming locations
Oregonians already know our state has provided a scenic location for several movies, ranging from much-loved classics like “The Goonies” to more obscure fare. Now, the HGTV website is taking note of two Oregon towns that served as locations for the ever-popular films “Twilight,” “Stand By Me” and the Disney Channel TV movie, “Halloweentown.”
Rye: a brief history of one of Eugene’s most popular restaurants
Contrary to what Google says, Rye is not a French restaurant. Pet of the Week: Googley
EUGENE, Ore. – Meet handsome Googley, a 7-year-old gentleman kitty that loves lap time and who would love nothing more than to find a forever loving home!. According to Greenhill Humane Society staffers, Googley is an absolute love bug who loves to hope right up onto his human’s chest, enjoys ‘making biscuits,’ and giving friendly head bumps. Googley has had extensive dental work done while at Greenhill and may need additional dental care after being adopted, staffers said. Greenhill said that, because of this, he is on a special diet. On sunny days at the shelter, Googley enjoys fresh air in his enclosed ‘catio’ and so he would likely enjoy outdoor access in his forever home, too, Greenhill officials said. Staff said that Googley should be introduced to other kitty or doggy siblings in a slow and supervised manner and he does well with older children in a calm home.
