Joplin Elks Lodge #501 was instituted on May 15, 1899 and since that day, has committed to serving the needs of Joplin and the surrounding areas. To commemorate the 125th Anniversary as an Elks Lodge, they will be having an anniversary celebration on May 18th from 12 pm-4 pm. This event will take place at the Elks Lodge located at 1802 W. 26th Street. The public is invited to join us for a fun-filled afternoon for the entire family!

Joplin traffic stop leads to arrest of two men who are well known to police
JOPLIN, Mo. — Two men were arrested earlier today following a traffic stop in West Joplin. They are Christopher Daniels, 32, and Dontae Hill, 33, both of Joplin. Joplin Police Captain William Davis just after 10:00 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at Junge and Cleveland for an equipment violation.
Jasper County ceremony honors lives lost in line of duty
CARTHAGE, Mo. — Lives lost in the line of duty were front and center in a Jasper County ceremony today. “On behalf of the City of Joplin, I want to recognize 21 officers who gave their lives in sacrifice to their city – Joplin. Sgt. Daniel Sheehan. End of watch, July 19, 1885. Patrolman Bert Brannon,” said JPD Asst. Chief Brian Lewis.
