A Johnstown native had the experience of a lifetime at the 95th Academy Awards as she got to present the Oscars to Hollywood's biggest stars.
Aditi Sridhar is currently a film and media studies student at the University of Pittsburgh who says going to the Oscars was an honor.
“They made us feel like we were just as important as everyone else there which is sometimes hard because your like, I’m a nobody and all of these people are somebody,” said Sridhar.
Sridhar is originally from Richland Township and tells 6 News, “On this past Sunday, I had the extreme honor of getting to be a trophy presenter for the 95th Academy Awards.”
This opportunity sparked from two internships she did last summer.
One with Warner Brothers Pictures and the other was through a program called Academy Gold Rising which happens to be operated by the Oscars.
“Through that then, they give you a lot of opportunities once you graduate from the program," said Sridhar. "They send out a lot of job opportunities, networking opportunities and one of those opportunities was to be a seat filler for the academy program or to be a seat filler for the Oscars.”
Sridhar says she didn’t get chosen to be a seat filler, but was just one out of two people from the Academy Gold Rising Program chosen to be a trophy presenter!
Sridhar explains the role as trophy presenter was, “Doing things like ushering the guests on the stage and off the stage and giving trophies out to the winners of the Oscars.”
And with this role, she had the opportunity to share the stage with some of the biggest names in Hollywood which she says was super exciting, but she says she received the most joy getting the chance to represent her hometown, Johnstown.
