JOHNSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — Johnston police were in a 4-hour long standoff with a man on Saturday morning due to a domestic dispute.

According to Chief Mark Vieira, the department was called to Greenville Avenue at around 9:30 a.m..

A male inside the house, identified as 36-year-old Jamil Skinner, was violating a domestic no-contact order.

Although the victim was able to leave the house safety before police arrived, Skinner stayed in the home and became uncooperative, refusing to exit.

Vieira says Johnston Police Crises Negotiators on scene were able to communicate with Skinner, and successfully got him to exit the house.

Skinner is being charged with violation of a no contact order.
