(Johnson County) An Iowa teen caught speeding at nearly 40 miles per hour with other teenagers in the car faces a possible license suspension. That’s on top of a more than 300-dollar ticket. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says the 18-year-old driver went 107 miles per hour in a 70 zone on Interstate 380. The driver told a deputy he “wanted to have some fun.” The sheriff’s office says teenagers are two and a half times more likely to drive dangerously while driving with a peer. Speed was a factor in nearly a third of fatal crashes involving passenger vehicle teenager drivers in 2020.
