An 18-year-old driver was found going 107 mph in a 70 mph zone on Interstate 380.
The driver was given a $308 ticket and a possible license suspension.
The driver told the Johnson County deputy that pulled them over that they "just wanted to have some fun."
The sheriff's office says teen drivers have been found to be two-and-a-half times more likely to engage in one or more risky behaviors while driving with another teenager.
In 2020, speed was a factor in 31% of the fatal crashes involving passenger vehicle teen drivers (15-18 years old).
