    JCPD: Juvenile arrested after armed carjacking

    JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A 17-year-old was arrested after an alleged armed carjacking in Johnson City on Monday.

    The Johnson City Police Department (JCPD) reports officers responded to the 2900 block of Plymouth Road regarding a carjacking just before 9 p.m.

    The victim told police he was sitting in his car when the suspect, identified by police as a 17-year-old, allegedly put a gun to his head and demanded he get out of the vehicle.

    Authorities say the 17-year-old then drove away with the vehicle.

    Later, the juvenile and the vehicle were found at a residence in Jonesborough, according to the report.

    The 17-year-old was arrested and charged with carjacking and theft over $2,500. They were taken to the Upper East Tennessee Regional Juvenile Detention Facility.
