According to an October 1 report from Eladelantado.com, final approval of the new store is pending though widely expected, and many are unhappy with the likelihood of the new location which is nearby a school and an assisted living center.

From the report: The new Costco, if approved, will be built near Prospect High School, a location that has caused quite a stir. The San Jose Planning Commission recently gave the project a green light by certifying the environmental impact report, setting the stage for a final vote by the city council on October 22.

Per the report, though up to 300 new jobs are expected to be created within the new entity, as well as the new store expected to provide an economic boom to the city, the fight to prevent a new Costco continues by many locals due to traffic and related concerns, causing an ongoing showdown with city officials in favor of the location.
