    Author’s Note

This article is based on corporate postings and accredited media reports. Linked information within this article is attributed to the following outlets: CNN.com, FamilyDollar.com and The-Sun.com.

    Introduction

I have written extensively about the Family Dollar discount chain, since 1959 among the most successful discount retailers in the country. The chain was acquired by Dollar Tree in 2015 for $8.5 billion, per CNN.com, but maintained its name.

Now comes word that in the midst of an unprecedented number of underperforming Family Dollar store closures, said to be primarily due to inflation, a stalwart South Dakota store is the next to permanently close.

    Let us explore.

    Family Dollar, 2024

According to an August 28 report from TheSun.com, a liquidation sale is presently ongoing for the store scheduled to close on September 14.

As excerpted from the report: The latest location to shutter, which is now selling all its merchandise at a 30% discount, is in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, SiouxFalls.Business reported. And alcohol and tobacco can be purchased with a 20 percent discount, a store employee said.

The address of the five-year-old store is 2511 S Minnesota Ave, Sioux Falls, SD 57105.

    Conclusion

As Family Dollar continues to shutter stores nationwide, further closures are likely in the state, though no further announcements has yet been made to that effect.

In the event of pertinent updates to this developing story, I will share them here on NewsBreak.

    Thank you for reading.

It’s amazing how they say underperforming for stores like this. The stores are never stocked they’re dirty and there’s carts of crap everywhere. Perfect example of poor management. I’m glad to see stores of the wealthy closing due to their own doing.
