Both drivers killed in Wayne County crash identified

WAYNE COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) — Two people are dead following a head-on collision that occurred early Wednesday morning about a mile outside the city limits of Jesup on Highway 84/Ga38.

According to Wayne County Sheriff, Chuck Mosley, a silver Ford Explorer traveling in the eastbound lane crossed over the median into oncoming traffic striking a black Ford Explorer head-on traveling in the westbound lane around 6:15 a.m.

The drivers were the only occupants of each vehicle. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the silver Ford Explorer was identified as Christopher Brock Peacock, 32, from Blackshear while the driver of the black Ford Explorer was identified as Elizabeth Ashley Ammons, 30, from Jesup.

Next of kin have been notified.

This is an ongoing investigation.
