Maryland State Police have ruled the death of a person incarcerated at Jessup Correctional Institution a homicide.
The victim, identified as Nicholas Joseph Delfosse, 27, was pronounced dead Saturday at the state prison by Anne Arundel County Emergency Medical Service personnel, state police shared in a news release.
A suspect, also incarcerated at the facility, has been identified, though no charges have been placed. The suspect is being held within the Division of Correction at another location.
Investigators said Delfosse had multiple injuries before 4:30 p.m. Saturday while in his cell. The suspect was Delfosse’s cellmate. A specific cause of death has not yet been determined.
The state police investigation will be presented to the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office for review regarding potential charges.
