JERSEY CITY, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A young boy was found alone at a busy Jersey City intersection on Thursday, police said in radio transmissions.

According to the transmissions obtained by NJ.com, the toddler was taken to the Jersey City Medical Center to be examined after being found at Martin Luther King Drive and Virginia Avenue at 1:35 p.m.

Police reportedly asked NJ Transit police to investigate if the toddler's parents were on the Hudson-Bergen light rail and were unaware that their child had gotten off and wandered away.

The child, described as 2 or 3 years old and possibly nonverbal, may have crossed Martin Luther King Drive on his own.

Nobody immediately reported the boy missing, and Jersey City police searched nearby schools and daycare centers, according to the report. However, none of the facilities reported that a child was missing.

Jersey City officials did not immediately respond to the outlet for more information.
