Jenks School Board to discuss Juul settlement during Monday’s meeting

JENKS, Okla. — Jenks Public Schools Board of Education will discuss on Monday whether or not to accept its piece of a multi-million-dollar settlement from electric cigarette company JUUL.

School districts in 34 states sued the vaping company last year claiming their product negatively impacted their communities and teen students. The lawsuit also claimed their ads targeted underage students.

Oklahoma districts are set to get nearly $9 million in total.

Jenks is being offered $126,000 for their part of the settlement.

The school board will meet at 5 p.m. at the Jenks Education Service Center.
