There’s a full slate of events happening tomorrow with the Bell Tower Festival in Jefferson.

The day begins with the Greene County Medical Center Foundation Golf Tournament at the Jefferson Community Golf Course at 9am. Then the other activities take place in the evening, starting with a chalk artist, Kathleen Boling, from 4-9pm on the southwest corner of the downtown square. Bell Tower Festival Committee Chair Philip Heisterkamp explains that Jefferson Matters Events and Tourism Coordinator Molly Cunningham brought in the new attraction of the chalk artist.

“A great find. A 3D chalk artist, you’re going to be able to look at her creation on the concrete on the ground. I’ve seen a mockup, there’s goats involved, there’ll be a balancing act involved. Again just a phenomenal thing (and) something fun to do and again free. Just it’ll be there on the ground, you can walk by and take a photo anytime.”

Then at 5pm, the brew station, the over 40 vendors, and the carnival opens to the public. Carnival tickets are $1 each or there’s a 24 ticket punch card for $20. The opening ceremonies will begin at 6pm on the south plaza stage of the Greene County Courthouse, where this year’s Tower of Fame recipient, Julie Fie, will be honored, followed by two live musical performances with Caleb Elliot and Royce Johns.

Heisterkamp reminds everyone that the immediate downtown square streets are blocked off starting today and part of the side streets around the square will be blocked off from traffic starting tomorrow morning. For more information go to the website belltowerfestival.com.
