‘Ring Out for Art’ sculptures on Bell Tower Plaza

The quartet of sculptures decorating the Bell Tower Plaza were selected from 36 entries received for the eighth Ring Out for Art contest, organized by the Jefferson Matters: Main Street Tower View Team.

Those who attend the annual Bell Tower Festival this weekend in downtown Jefferson can vote for their favorite, with the winner receiving the Public Choice Award. Voting will continue through Aug. 15. That sculpture will remain on display on the plaza through next April and the sculptor will receive $500 from the Tower View Team.

Ring Out for Art is hosted by the Tower View Team with Home State Bank and the Greene County board of supervisors. A selection committee chose the four finalists based on photographs submitted by sculptors. All four finalists will receive a $1,000 stipend provided by Home State Bank, with the Public Choice Award winner receiving the extra prize money.

Two sculptors from the 2022 Ring Out for Art have work displayed this year, too. Kirk Seese of Lutherville, MD, created “The Feather.” His murals and sculptures can be found in 33 states. Damian Radice of Grand Junction, CO, is returning this year with PLay Ball”, a active piece inspired by his dog Treads.

A father-son team of Jim Pedersen of Walker, MN, and Ryan Pedersen of North Makato, MN, created “Fluid Connections,” which represent two sides of a river. “Reaching” is the only sculpture created by an Iowan – Drew Evans-Arcenas of Marion. Evans-Arcenas welded together nuts from a scrapyard for the piece.
