Jefferson and surrounding youth are invited to an annual event happening this upcoming weekend.

The Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department and Jefferson Kiwanis Club are teaming up to do the Easter Egg Hunt this Saturday at the Greene County Community Center, with check-ins to be at 3:30pm and the hunt will begin at 4pm. JPRD Director Denny Hammen says besides children getting candy, there are other prizes they can win inside random eggs.

“We put little slips of paper in some of the eggs and they can get some board games, we also have movie passes that Kiwanis have donated. So there’s also little surprises they can get while they’re on the Easter Egg Hunt.”

Hammen appreciates the support they receive from Jefferson Kiwanis.

“They help raise the money, they donate the movie cards as well, and then the most important thing is they help the day of the Easter Egg Hunt, with helping to set the eggs out, crowd control, and making sure the day goes smoothly. So yes, a very big event for the Kiwanis and very supportive, I guess of our efforts here at the community center.”

The event is for toddlers through third graders. The deadline to register for the free egg hunt is March 31st by contacting the community center.
