Woman injured after SUV goes through median, hits tree in parking lot

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City woman suffered moderate injuries in a crash Thursday afternoon in the 3200 block of West Truman Boulevard.

Michelle Pleus, 52, was hurt in the crash and taken to an area hospital by ambulance, according to a crash report from the Jefferson City Police Department. She was wearing a seatbelt.

The crash occurred after Pleus attempted to pull into a parking space and mistook the accelerator for the brakes. Her 2017 Nissan Armada went through a grassy, raised median and skid clockwise through an adjacent parking lot, according to the crash report.

The vehicle then hit a light fixture, internet power box and a tree before stopping.

The Nissan was totaled.
