Janesville’s long-time police chief formally announced his retirement to the City Council Sept. 25.
Police Chief Dave Ulmen, who has helmed the department for 23 years, will step down from his potion Nov. 30. Janesville City Administrator Clinton Rogers will work with City Council to hire a replacement.
In a message to the council, Ulmen expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve.
“It has truly been an honor and privilege to serve this city and the citizens of Janesville for the past 23 years, and I believe it now time for me to step down and move on.
“If I can be on any assistance in selecting a new chief law enforcement officer for the department, please do not hesitate to let me know how.
“I wish everyone the best and thank you for allowing me to serve this city.”
