Jamestown man arrested for alleged death of toddler by blunt force trauma

( WJET/WFXP ) – A Jamestown man was arrested for manslaughter following the death of a 16-month-old child.

On April 15, the Jamestown Police Department was notified about the suspicious death of a child that happened two days prior in the City of Jamestown.

According to police, an investigation was opened which later revealed 25-year-old Jamestown resident Matthew Nuttall allegedly caused the death of the 16-month-old by blunt-force trauma.

Nuttall was taken into custody on April 17 by the Jamestown Police Department Investigative Section and was being held in the Jamestown City Jail. He was charged with second-degree manslaughter.

On April 18, Nuttall was arraigned in the Jamestown City Court by the Honorable Judge George Panebianco and committed to the Chautauqua County Jail on a $500,000 cash or $1 million property bond.

A preliminary hearing was held on April 22 after which Nuttall was held for action by the Chautauqua County Grand Jury.

Nutall is currently in custody and awaits further charges.
