FARGO, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High School softball team scored 11 unanswered runs on Friday afternoon at the Class A State Tournament as the Blue Jays defeated Grand Forks Central, 11-2, in the consolation semifinals.

Central jumped in front first, scoring their only two runs in the top of the first inning. It would take until the third inning for the Blue Jays to settle in, but once they did, Jamestown would hang crooked numbers in three consecutive innings.

The Jays scored three runs in the third following a leadoff double from Ella Falk. With one out, Jada Walter drew a walk to put runners at the corners. After a groundout, Violet Bohl, a courtesy runner for Falk, scored on a wild pitch to bring Jamestown back within one. Makenna Nold then drove in Walter, tripling into left field. Nold would score during the next at-bat on a passed ball, giving Jamestown a 3-2 advantage.

Jamestown loaded the bases in the fourth and scored three more runs, two of which came off a double from Walter. The lead increased from 6-2 to 10-2 in the fifth after Leah Trumbauer and E. Falk each drove in two runs. Nold added another run in the sixth, hitting her 16th home run of the year, an inside-the-park home run off the wall in right.

Katie Falk tossed 3.2 innings, striking out four Central batters and allowing four hits. In relief, Nold struck out seven over 3.1 innings, walking one. The two pitchers combined to throw 74 strikes on 110 total pitches.

Jamestown (27-10) will wrap up the season in the consolation championship on Saturday morning at 10 AM. The Blue Jays will look for a fifth-place finish at the state tournament and will take on either West Fargo or Sheyenne.
