This spring, Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) learned it received two prestigious awards.

The National Rural Health Association named the medical center a “Top 20 Critical Access Hospital” for the fourth consecutive year. Also this year, Modern Healthcare recognized JRMC as one of the industry’s Best Places to Work – for the sixth time since 2017. The National Rural Health Association selects the Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals from a list as determined by The Chartis Center for Rural Health.

“Twelve years ago, JRMC boldly-decided to move to its new location in southwest Jamestown. This location allows us to offer award-winning specialty care and remain THE difference in the lives of those we serve,” said Mark Anderson, board chair. “These national awards are examples of that.”

Across the country, more than 1,300 critical access hospitals serve the nation’s rural communities. The Top 20 Hospital award is based on inpatient market share, outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost, charge and finance. Modern Healthcare selects healthcare organizations from all sectors of the industry – including software companies, long-term care providers and hospitals like JRMC – for its annual Best Places to Work (BPW) Award. BPW recognizes the top healthcare workplaces for the ways they support their staff and empower teams to offer the best possible care, products and services.

Though the medical center moved locations, a building is only brick and mortar, Anderson said. The spirit of JRMC is in its people.

“It’s easy for us in the community to take JRMC for granted,” Anderson said. “However, the region should know this medical center is special and rare. JRMC caregivers are talented clinicians. They also offer the component of compassion. You can feel the difference — THE difference — when you experience care at JRMC.”

While grateful for the recognition, JRMC President & CEO Mike Delfs said he is especially proud of the JRMC team.

“The work we do is not for awards. The work we do is for the patients and families we serve,” he said. “These awards are evidence of working toward our vision of being the best rural hospital for patients to receive care, providers to practice and employees to work.”

Awards like Best Places to Work at Top 20 Critical Access Hospital mean the region can expect excellence at JRMC.

“Our teams are legendary,” said JRMC President & CEO Mike Delfs. “Their passion and dedication to patient care in our community is why we remain a destination for care in this region. People choose us not only because we are close to home, but because we are the best.”

In addition to patients, employees can choose where to build their careers.
