Public safety officials are warning people in Northeast Florida to stay off the roads as Hurricane Debby kicks up rain and wind through the day.

In the San Marco neighborhood in Jacksonville, parts of Palm Avenue and LaSalle Street have already flooded.

In Clay County, Sheriff Michelle Cook says police received reports of trees down on the roads, including one tree falling on a car.

“If you do have to drive, and you come up to an intersection where the lights are malfunctioning, please remember to treat it as a four way stop,” Cook said.

Officials in Clay County ask people to report any downed trees or power lines by calling 1-877-Clay-EOC.
