Two Jackson Public Schools students who were about to graduate were killed.
Jackson police say Gabriel Warren and William Ransburgh were shot and killed earlier this month.
The two teens were about to graduate from Forest Hill High School.
Principal Torrey Hampton said he knew the students well.
"Just to lose one scholar, let alone two. In a two-and-a-half-week span and both were graduating. Same class. That hit everyone really, really hard," Hampton said.
Hampton described both as having bright futures. Warren had plans to join the Marines after graduation.
"He had left such a great impact on the recruiters in the four months they were recruiting him that they're even going to offer a scholarship in the Marine Corps through his name," Hampton said.
The senior class honored both seniors with a tribute during a graduating class celebration.
Hampton said in his eyes the two are still a part of the graduating class of 2023.
