Twin Cities Jazz Pop-Up Tour Kicks Off
Craving the energy and music from the annual Twin Cities Jazz Festival? Throughout the year, the fest is bringing a new Jazz Pop-Up Tour at venues across the metro. The first act is the Kevin Gamble Quartet, a group formed by the pianist Kevin Gamble, whose interest in jazz first surfaced when he was a kid playing piano at church. Gamble grew up listening to gospel, jazz, funk, country, and soul before finishing his music education in 2018 and starting his fusion quartet in 2019 with some of Minnesota’s most talented musicians. With Gamble on piano, Tarek Abdelqader on the drums, Nick Benish on the bass, and Andrew Tomten on the saxophone, the venue Berlin is sure to swing to the group’s combined jazzy, soulful, and funky beats on February 20 at 7:30 p.m. for $20 a ticket. Berlin will also be a participating venue for the Twin Cities Jazz Festival this upcoming June.
