State trooper injured in four-wheeler pursuit
IUKA – A Tishomingo County man who fled from a safety checkpoint is now behind bars facing several felony charges. The Mississippi Highway Patrol was conducting a safety checkpoint on Highway 25 in Dennis on Monday, May 27, when a man on a four-wheeler approached. The suspect, later identified as Ricky Don Thorn, 45, of Dennis, reportedly refused to stop and drove away on the railroad tracks. Troopers chased the suspect on foot and located the four-wheeler and the suspect a short distance away on the tracks.

Possible bomb found at Mississippi church, sheriff says
Police were called to a Mississippi church Thursday afternoon after a suspicious package and a note that referenced a bomb was found, authorities said. Deputies with the Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office said they were called to the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church on County Road 614 at approximately 1:30 p.m. after a person there reported finding a suspicious package at the church.

Sheffield man accused of attempted murder has bond revoked following domestic violence arrest
SHEFFIELD, Ala. (WAFF) - A Sheffield man accused of trying to kill his ex-wife in October has had his bond revoked following a recent domestic violence arrest. Steven Noyola was arrested on numerous charges in October 2023 including Attempted Murder, Domestic Violence (strangulation/suffocation) and unlawful imprisonment. He was held in the Colbert County Jail on a $530,000 bond.
Prentiss County makes three felony drug arrests
BOONEVILLE – The Prentiss County Sheriff’s Office recently made three felony drug arrests at safety checkpoints within a four-day span. Glenda Carter, 44, of the Burton community was arrested at a June 3 safety checkpoint at Highway 30 and County Road 3501. She was initially arrested on a pair of justice court warrants, but officers say they later found a felony amount of methamphetamine and another controlled substance in her vehicle.
