ALBANY, N.Y. (WHCU) — The state Senate has passed a bill which would benefit Ithaca Carshare.

Senator Lea Webb’s bill would allow insurance companies located outside New York to offer service to car shares statewide. Webb says the bill protects critical resources like Ithaca Carshare, which has served over 15-hundred Ithacans since its formation 15 years ago. It now goes to the Assembly for a vote.

Ithaca Carshare paused operations in mid-May, and executive director Liz Field hopes to resume in July.
