Three athletes from the Issaquah Gliders Cross-Country team, Liya, Cache, and Mela, are set to compete in the USATF National Junior Olympic Cross-Country Championship on December 9. They earned their spots through outstanding performances.

The University of Washington Women’s Basketball team backed up the “we run this state” claim thrown down by the UW Men’s Basketball team yesterday with their impressive win over Gonzaga as the women’s team continued its season-long roll Sunday afternoon as it defeated a strong Washington State team in Pullman. The victory over their cross-state rivals moved the winning streak to 10-0.

• The University of Washington Huskies ended Gonzaga's 16-game winning streak against Pac-12 opponents with a 78-73 victory. The Huskies rallied from an 11-point second-half deficit to secure the win.

• The Washington Huskies men's basketball team defeated No. 7 Gonzaga Bulldogs 78-73 in a thrilling game at the Alaska Airlines Arena. • This was the first win for the Huskies over the Bulldogs since 2005, and their first win over a top 10 team since 2018.

Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. found the most fashionable way to honor his teammates during this year’s Heisman Trophy ceremony. One of the four finalists for the most prestigious award in college football, Penix wore a jacket with the names of his teammates and coaches written on the inside as a way to recognize all of the Huskies on the big stage.
