FHP Seeks Public’s Help in Identifying Suspect in Orange County Road Rage Shooting

9/26/24 - 5:25 PM UPDATE: After a subsequent investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol the suspect, Jorge Luis De Jesus Carrasquillo, age 35, of Saint Cloud was arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail under the following charges:

F.S.S. 782.051 Attempted Felony Murder

F.S.S. 790.15 Direct Discharge of Firearm from Vehicle

F.S.S. 790.19 Shooting into Occupied Vehicle

Orange County, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is investigating a shooting incident that occurred early this morning on Florida’s Turnpike in Orange County. The incident took place around 6:30 AM in the northbound lanes near mile marker 251, just outside of Orlando.

According to the FHP, a 33-year-old male was driving his blue Tesla Model Y when he was involved in a road rage altercation with the driver of a gray or silver Volkswagen hatchback. During the altercation, the suspect opened fire, striking the victim’s vehicle twice on the driver’s side door. The victim soon realized that he had been shot in the right leg.

Emergency responders arrived on the scene, and the victim was transported to a nearby hospital to receive medical treatment for his injuries. The suspect remains at large, with no further details provided about the vehicle or the identity of the driver.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the case to contact the Florida Highway Patrol at 407-737-2213 or CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477). CRIMELINE offers cash rewards of up to $1,000 for tips that lead to the felony arrest of suspects, and all tips remain completely anonymous.

This case remains under active investigation by the FHP.
