The mother of the teenager who is accused of killing four people at a Georgia high school last week, has apologized to the victims’ families in an open letter. The woman insists her son “is not a monster.”

Marcee Gray, the mother of 14-year-old Colt Gray , wrote in a letter which she gave to CNN, “To the parents and families of those affected by the tragic events at Apalachee High School, I want to say that I am so sorry from the bottom of my heart.”

Several days after the horrific attack, it was revealed that Marcy had made an urgent call to the high school, warning them of an “extreme emergency.” Two teachers and two students were killed, while seven others were wounded by the gunfire. Two additional students suffered other injuries, according to authorities.

  • Marcee referenced the two 14-year-olds who were killed in the shooting , writing: “If I could take the place of Mason and Christian, I would without a second thought.”

“As a parent, I’ve always said that the loss of one of my children would be the only thing that I wouldn’t be able to come back from. I feel all of your pain and devastation. I grieve and cry with you.”

“We are all in a living nightmare right now, and I will personally never forgive myself for what has happened,” she continued. “My son Colt is not a monster. He is my oldest baby. He is quiet, thoughtful, caring, funny, and extremely intelligent. Please pray for him and the rest of our family, as I am praying for all of you every moment of every day.”

Colt Gray is charged with four counts of felony murder and will be tried as an adult. But because of his age. The suspect’s father, Colin Gray, 54, has also been accused of knowingly providing his son a weapon after he reportedly gifted Colt an AR-15-style rifle as a Christmas gift.

Colin and Marcee Gray had been separated for some time, and Colin was allegedly teaching Colt about firearms, and hunting according to transcripts. Marcee had made social media posts in the past, accusing Colin of domestic abuse.

Colin now faces four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder and eight counts of cruelty to children.

You are my as guilty as the father . If you knew the assault rifle was purchased for Colt. Why not buy him a deer gun . He had no business with an assault rifle. Instead of getting Colt help you chose to stay messed up or drunk, so Colt was traumatized being locked out of the house and ain’t no telling what else. So I don’t believe your letter. I think you are just as much at fault as his father. Nice try
