The mother of the suspected gunman in the Apalachee High School tragedy , Colt Gray, is believed to have alerted the school prior to her son's alleged fatal attack .

Marcee Gray reportedly reached out to the institution before the horrifying event that claimed the lives of two students and two teachers, issuing a warning about her offspring .

According to documents seen by The Washington Post, Marcee is said to have informed relatives through text messages that she had expressed her concerns over her 14-year-old son to a school counselor, emphasizing an "extreme emergency".

Reports also touch on the fact that the parents of the Georgia school shooting suspect neglected their own pets when evicted by their landlord.

An image has surfaced of Georgia school assailant suspect Colt Gray brandishing an AR-15, a year before the devastating incident that left four dead at the educational facility.

Interviews with family members and scrutiny of text conversations are corroborated, claims the publication, by call records. These indicate a critical 10-minute conversation took place from Marcee Gray's phone with the school at 9:50 am.

This pivotal point came just about 30 minutes before eyewitnesses say gunfire erupted within the school premises. After the calamity unfolded, the suspected shooter's mother purportedly messaged her sister confessing: "I was the one that notified the school counselor at the high school."

Her message elaborated: "I told them it was an extreme emergency and for them to go immediately and [find my son] to check on him."

Marcee Gray's sister, Annie Brown, revealed that a counselor had informed her sibling about her son discussing a school shooting that morning, as reported by The Post and later confirmed to CNN.

The Washington Post disclosed that at the same time, a pupil alerted that a school official visited Colt Gray's maths class.

Yet, confusion arose due to another student with a similar name to Gray's. Neither of the students was present in the classroom, and the staff member departed with the other student's backpack.

Shortly after, the tragic shooting spree commenced. Gray faced his initial court hearing on Friday, facing adult charges for the murder of fellow students Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo, both 14, along with teachers Richard Aspinwall, 39, and Christina Irimie, 53.

An additional nine individuals sustained injuries during the dreadful incident at the high school in Winder, Georgia. Colin Gray, the 54-year-old father of the accused shooter, also appeared in court on Friday.

He faces charges including two counts of second-degree murder and eight counts of second-degree cruelty to children.

Officials from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation stated that the suspect's father "knowingly allowed" his son access to firearms. Gray also admitted to police that he bought the gun used in the shooting as a Christmas present for his son.

She may not be a great mother, but in that moment, she clearly had concern for not only her child, but others as well. I wish people would have grace. I have no doubt she's struggling immensely right now, and I hope she'll find a support system that will help her, just as much as I hope the victims families will have a strong support system.
