Homeless New York woman's body found in suitcase after disappearance last month

The body of a missing New York woman has reportedly been found in a suitcase outside an apartment complex in Long Island .

The Suffolk County Sheriff's Department announced that they discovered the body of 31-year-old Seikeya Jones, who was reported missing on August 16.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, they discovered Jones’ body stuffed inside the luggage near Huntington on Tuesday, September 3.

Suffolk County Police responded to reports of suspicious activity at 11:30 am that day, and upon arrival, discovered the suitcase behind the building. An autopsy will be carried out to determine the exact cause of her death, which remains under investigation.

Residents of the apartment building allegedly showed NBC footage of Jones entering the building with an unidentified man last week. Another witness told WABC-TV that they had heard a woman screaming in the middle of the night, two days before her body was found.

Jones had not been seen since August 16, and police had issued a statement appealing for any information on her whereabouts. Police noted that she had last been seen near Fifth Avenue in Huntington Station. Jones was believed to be homeless at the time of her disappearance.
