US Olympic star calls out quality of Paris 2024 Olympic medals with damning footage

American skateboarder Nyjah Huston is fuming over the poor quality of his bronze medal from the Paris Olympics, with footage of the medal proving to be quite damning .

After triumphing in the Men's Street event on July 29, a social media video from August 8 showed the medal's state after just a short period .

Venting online, Huston said: "Alright, so the medals look great when they are brand new. But they look worse after I let them sit on my skin with some sweat for a little while and let my friends wear them over the weekend."

"They are apparently not as high quality as you would think. I mean look at that thing, it is looking rough. Even the front is starting to chip off a little so I think the Olympic medals need to step up the quality a little bit."

In another update, he mentioned: "Medal looking like it went to war and back...I guess the medals are meant to be in cases. Not meant for the send."

This year's medals are crafted from iron sourced from the Eiffel Tower itself, embodying the hexagon shape to pay tribute to the host city and its renowned structure.

Creative Director of Paris 2024, Thierry Reboul, expressed: "It's the opportunity for the athletes to bring back a piece of Paris with them. The absolute symbol of Paris and France is the Eiffel Tower."

The medals were designed by a French luxury jewelry company based in Paris, and 5,084 of them will be minted by France's official mint, the Monnaie de Paris.
