An Iowa City man arrested last month for his role in a shots-fired incident near the Old Capitol Town Center is back in custody in Johnson County.

27-year-old Kemonte Brown of Eastbrook Street was arrested May 17th in Boulder, Colo., by the U.S. Marshals Office. He was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 2:15 Wednesday afternoon.

Brown is accused of firing shots outside Pint’s on the 100 block of South Clinton Street just after 12:15am on February 26th

According to the police report, Brown was outside the bar when he pulled out a gun, chambered a live round, then temporarily handed the gun to another individual to engage in an altercation with a group of people.  After the altercation, and when the other people were a considerable distance away and not a threat to Brown, he brandished the handgun and fired at least one shot towards them. The group of people fled for safety in multiple directions.

It was determined that the shot likely missed everyone and caused damage to Old Capitol Town Center.  A check of criminal records showed Brown was ineligible to carry a dangerous weapon.

A warrant was issued March 1st. Brown faces charges of Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, Going Armed with Intent, Reckless Use of a Firearm and Person Ineligible to Carry Dangerous Weapons.  If convicted on all counts, Brown could be sentenced to up to 18 years in prison.
