Iowa City woman charged after using stolen credit card at numerous area locations

An Iowa City woman was taken into custody after she allegedly used a stolen credit card at seven different locations in one afternoon.

Police report that 40-year-old Rihana Alamin reportedly committed the offenses between 3-7pm the afternoon of May 10th.  Her purchases ranged in price from $2.81 to $79.26 and occurred at Copyworks, Global Mart Grocery, La Bendicion Restaurant and Panera Bread in Coralville, along with Pops BBQ, V’s Nail Salon and Chipotle in Iowa City.

A warrant was issued for Alamin’s arrest; she was taken into custody on Tuesday and charged with 7 counts of unauthorized credit card use, and one count of 5th degree theft. If convicted on all charges, Alamin could be sentenced to up to over 14 years in prison.  After her initial appearance, she was released on her own recognizance pending further court proceedings.
