An Iowa City man was arrested Monday after allegedly sending hundreds of threatening messages to a woman.

Police were dispatched to the woman victim’s apartment on Saturday morning regarding the threatening texts. She reportedly told the officer that she is an abusive relationship with 37-year-old Eric Bronson, and added that he had been sending her texts threatening to kill her.

The woman then reportedly showed the officer her son’s phone that she’d been using to communicate with Bronson.  The police report indicates that Bronson sent the woman several hundred text messages from 6pm Friday night through 11am Saturday.  Several of the texts allegedy stated “I swear to god I’m gonna kill you,” “you gonna die for your disrespect,” and “I’m ‘bout to find me a gun.”

Bronson later called the woman while officers were present and stated that he was going to her residence dressed in all black to kick the door in.

Bronson was located and taken into custody early Monday morning. He’s been charged with 1st degree Harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to two years if convicted.

A no-contact order was requested between Bronson and the woman.
