IOSCO COUNTY- Hannah Towne of Tawas has been named to Southern New Hampshire University’s Winter Dean’s List. The winter terms run from January to May. Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.500 to 3.699 for the reporting term are named to the Dean’s List. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits over each 16-week term or paired 8-week terms grouped in fall, winter/spring, and summer.

GRANT Twp. – Iosco County Prosecuting Attorney James Bacarella has charged Corgin Michael Dittenber, 18, West Branch, with five counts – one of discharging a firearm in a building, which carries a maximum of 10 years in prison and/or costs of $10,000; two counts of felonious assault, each of which carry a maximum of four years in prison and/or $2,000; one felony firearm count, which carries a maximum of two years in prison consecutive to another felony; and reckless use of a firearm, which is a misdemeanor punishable by 90 days and/or $500.

Michigan teen charged with firing gun at prom afterparty, pistol-whipping attendee
WEST BRANCH, MI — A West Branch teen is facing several felonies after allegedly firing a gun at a prom afterparty. About 3 a.m. on Sunday, May 7, Michigan State Police troopers responded to a gunfire complaint at a residence on North Rhodes Road in Iosco County’s Grant Township. Troopers determined the house had been hosting a large afterparty for those who attended the Tawas High School prom, during which a fight erupted between attendees.
