Fishing with Capt. George Tunison | Snook heading to warm winter spots
Dropping temperatures, less humidity, change is definitely in the air prompting many snook to leave the beaches and start their move inland to their favorite warm wintering spot far upriver. Anglers might find one, or a school almost anywhere holding temporarily around choice structure and choke points in the river or along wind-blown island points, waiting to ambush your live bait, fly, or lure. Depending on water depth and location and with water temperatures ranging from 75-84, faster moving search lures like spoons allow anglers to cast far, and cover water more efficiently. Treble hooked spoons are a high percentage bait meaning they not only cast far, but can be retrieved at a moderately fast pace and also attract, hook, and hold on to high flying linesiders as long as an always starving redfish doesn’t intercept them first.

Naples Airport board, City of Naples cry foul on the other over talks
Both Naples Airport and City of Naples representatives are calling foul on the other in land lease negotiations. Members of the Naples Airport Authority (NAA) Board of Commissioners say they acted in good faith in the failed talks that started in April. City Council members and the city attorney say the NAA board just gave up when they spent significant time and money on the negotiations. Those talks ended as of an Oct. 2, 2026, formal mediation with no official resolution over the land lease between them and the city's land use and zoning authority. The talks followed a lawsuit filed in May by the City of Naples against the NAA and then put in abatement to participate in state required negotiations and mediation if necessary. "Those were really disappointing," City Councilman Bill Kramer said during an Oct. 7 city council meeting. "We were trying to have a collaborative partnership, and the reality is they walked away from the table." NAA board members refuted that notion during an Oct. 15 regular meeting. "The NAA has negotiated in good faith," said Chairman Terrence Cavanaugh. "We have spent significant intellectual and financial resources attempting to create clarity on land use, the best
