Woman Stumbles Across Peculiar “Art” In The Woods & It Has People Speculating

Is it pinecone art, an alien artifact, a burial mound, or a sacrificial altar? While walking her dog, Margaret Zeitouny found an odd design made from pinecones in Cedarwood Park near her Massachusetts home. She was fascinated, so she took pictures and posted them on Facebook in a local neighborhood group.

The pinecone art reminded Margaret of a mandala because of the concentric circles of pinecones. The placement of each row alternates the cones with bottom-to-bottom and top-to-top. In an interview with WBZ-TV CBS News , she described a mandala, “It’s a circle pattern with a repetitive design.”

Unsure if the artist would continue working on the piece, she told the interviewer, “I don’t know if the artist is coming up and checking on it, but I am. I want to take a picture a day until it’s not there anymore.” She thinks the artist might be a Brandeis University student. The most recent posted update was on September 9, 2024, when Margaret noted some leaves beginning to fall on the formation.

Margaret quickly denied many suggested origins, such as extraterrestrials and Satanic rituals. During the interview with CBS News, she said, “I appreciate that someone spent a significant amount of time putting it together and put it together on the edge of the trail.”

Although commenters in the community group had wild suggestions about the origin, evidence points to the mundane. It is an intricate work of pinecone art from someone enjoying their relaxing, meditative time in nature. While it lasts, the mystery of its creation and the artist remains. It will keep Margaret company on her adventurous walks through the woods.
