INEZ — Authorities with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man for imprisoning a woman against her will.

On May 31, Sheriff John Kirk sent Chief Deputy Chris Kidd to the residence of 36-year-old Justin Marcum on Fitch Branch Road in Inez to do a welfare check.

The deputy discovered padlocks on the outside of both exit doors, wood placed over several windows, and metal covering one window at the location.

Kidd said a woman was imprisoned inside the home.

According to the police report, the victim stated Marcum had locked her in because he “is extremely jealous.”

The woman had no phone and no way to contact anyone.

Kidd arrested Marcum and charged him with unlawful imprisonment.
