indianola-8

The Indianola baseball and softball teams host the Mustangs of Dallas Center-Grimes in a pair of Little Hawkeye Conference doubleheaders tonight, which will be crucial in the conference standings.

The Indians baseball team is back on track in the conference after losing their opening games, and sit tied atop the conference standings with the Mustangs at 4-2. Indians head coach Jon Fitzpatrick says the conference season is still early and there are no easy nights, but that makes every game important so they need to use the home field advantage.

The #1 in class 4A Indianola softball team jumped up the rankings this week after a doubleheader sweep over then #3 Norwalk on Monday, and takes on a #3 Mustangs team that returned the majority of talent from their state runner-up team last year and only suffered their first conference defeat to Norwalk on Wednesday. Indianola sits atop the conference with a 6-0 record.

Both doubleheader contests begin at 5:30pm.
