The #5 Indianola softball team swept #3 Norwalk in a road doubleheader Monday winning 12-4 and 2-1 in a pair of games heard live on 94.3 KNIA.

Game one saw fireworks early, as Indianola scored seven unanswered in the first three innings to take a big lead, which included a solo home run from Kiley Kindelspire and a three-run shot by Jordyn Gripp, with Tessa Gripp also adding a home run. Norwalk attempted a comeback in the bottom of the third, taking advantage of an Indianola error and an RBI single from Lauren Black, but the Indians answered every Norwalk challenge with more runs. Indianola scored two more in the fourth with RBI hits from Brynn Ortlund and Dana Blake, and Tessa Gripp added more insurance in the seventh with another two-run home run to get to the final tally.

Game two was much closer, as both teams scored a run in the first inning, the Indians scoring on a Kindelspire single and the Warriors on a Black single after an Indianola error. Indianola would push a run across in the third on a Norwalk error, and that would be the only offense in the contest. Both pitchers were dominant in the circle, as Indians hurler Izzie Benge only allowed two hits all game, while Norwalk pitcher Olivia Dougherty struck out 13 batters.

Indianola improves to 11-2 and 5-0 in Little Hawkeye Conference play, and next plays Wednesday hosting Grinnell. Norwalk falls to 5-2 and 3-2, and travels to Boone tonight.
