Max Cleveland of the Simpson men’s track and field team etched his name into school history, earning All-American status in the 110 meter hurdles at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships.

Cleveland qualified for the 110 meters hurdles final yesterday with a time of 14.47. The Indianola native recorded the same time, just .04 seconds off his career-best, in the final. Cleveland took seventh overall, becoming the first Simpson track and field All-American since Dylan Kalinay received the honor in 2018 in the indoor 60 meter hurdles.

Spencer Moon competed in the 5,000 meters to end the championships for the Storm. Moon went out fast in an attempt to shake up the race and hope to catch the tired legs of the runners in the 10,000 meters on Thursday off-guard. Moon led for around 3,000 meters overall, but was unfortunately caught by a trio of runners in the first chase pack.

Moon finished the race in a time of 14:46.52. The championships conclude the 2022-23 track season.
