The Indianola boys track and field team will have competitors continue the early portion of their season tomorrow, splitting the team between the indoor meet at Grinnell and a meet at Waukee NW High School. Head coach Matt Oliver said the squad lost a lot of talent to graduation, but he thinks this younger team will be able to step up and fill those varsity roles after a top 10 finish at the state meet last year.

“We knew that we would be losing some pretty special kids, but we have some nice pieces coming back and we’ve got a couple kids that are going to do some nice things for us. We know that we are going to have to rely on some young kids and up and comers, that’s where we are at and we are looking forward to the growth of these kids.”

Oliver also said he knows the legacy left behind by some standout athletes will carry on, as they were great leaders and not only led with their words but with their actions.
