INDIANAPOLIS — Court documents reveal that a woman attempted to walk out of a northwest side Kroger with stolen liquor but was confronted by a police officer. The woman is accused of assaulting the officer when he tried to stop her.

Llysha Moore, 29, of Indianapolis is charged with battery of a public safety officer, a Level 5, along with resisting law enforcement and theft, both misdemeanors.

According to court documents, a Marian University police officer who was working at Kroger in full uniform noticed Moore when she set off the alarm while exiting the Kroger on April 18.

The officer followed Moore out into the parking lot where he called out to her to stop, pointing out how she had set off the alarm and he needed to check her bag.

Moore allegedly refused to cooperate and when the officer grabbed her bag, Moore assaulted him.

The officer wrote that Moore, “assaulted me in my chest” before trying to grab his radio when he went to call for backup. Moore is then accused of striking the officer in his face and causing pain and swelling inside his nose, according to his report.

The officer ended up spraying Moore with pepper spray but she fled to her vehicle and drove away.

Police said Moore dropped several items while fleeing including an iPhone, a Taser, a pair of shoes and a bottle of vodka that still had the security cap on it.

Police believed Moore did successfully escape with an unidentified amount of liquor.

Moore was arrested later by IMPD.

An unknown male was also spotted in her vehicle when she fled the Kroger, according to police. The male fled into the woods when Moore was apprehended and wasn’t caught.

If convicted, Moore could face between one and six years in prison.
