( Dec. 5, 2023 ) Former Nantucket police officer Gregory Furtado, who joined the Massachusetts State Police in 2006, has died at 41. Nantucket police announced on social media Saturday that Furtado began his law enforcement career on the island, serving as a summer special officer before being hired full-time in June 2005. He then joined the State Police, graduating the State Police Academy in 2006.

LEWISTON, ID - A 49-year-old Lewiston man who was convicted of trafficking nearly two pounds of methamphetamine was sentenced today in Nez Perce County Second District Court. Judge Michelle Evans ordered that Nickolas Jacobson be held for 10 years before he is eligible for parole and he must pay a $25,000 fine. He was found guilty by a jury following a two-day trial in September.
