2 people killed in separate shootings, including woman asleep in bed

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating two overnight shootings: one on the east side and another on the near east side that led to the death of two people.

The shootings happened within one hour of each other and were located about 10 minutes apart.

East Side:

IMPD responded to a person shot scene at the 1400 block of Priscilla Ave near Warren Park just before 11 p.m., where they found an adult male with gunshot wound(s).

According to IMPD, the man was reported as “not awake or breathing” at the scene and died at the hospital.

Near East Side:

IMPD reported to another person shot scene, just before midnight, at the 600 block of N. Gray Street where they found an adult female with gunshot wound(s).

“Inside the home, sadly, in an upstairs bedroom, an adult female was found shot and dead in her bed. This is tragic. A lady just lying asleep in her bed and shots being fired from the street,” said IMPD Capt. Mark McCardia.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Police believe someone had fired shots into her home. Shell casings were found on the street outside of her house.
