Jordan Nwora sets Indiana Pacers regular season franchise record for points in one quarter with 25

Indiana Pacers forward Jordan Nwora set the Pacers franchise record for points in one quarter on Saturday.

With the Pacers battling the Atlanta Hawks, Nwora scored 25 points in the second quarter. He lit up State Farm Arena, knocking down nine shots and four free throws in the frame. Atlanta had no answers for the forward.

The 24-year old drilled three outside attempts and six two-point shots in the frame. He was the catalyst behind Indiana's 39-point quarter, which helped them carry a 74-72 lead into halftime.

Nwora's season high in points before this outing was 21 points, and his best scoring game as a member of the Pacers featured 20 points. He smashed both of those numbers, and it only took him one quarter to do it.

"He was just telling me 'this is something I can do every night'," Nwora said during an interview on the Bally Sports Indiana broadcast of the game when discussing the advice he was given by Pacers assistant coach Lloyd Pierce. "I've just got to let the game come to me and really just do what I do."

Nwora did a little bit of everything. He drove to the rim for layups, cut hard for easy buckets, and launched pull-up jumpers. They basically all went down. No matter how the Hawks tried to defend the young forward, he scored.

In the end, Nwora had 25 points in the frame, which was the most points scored by a Pacer in a regular season quarter since quarter stats have been tracked. The previous best was 24 by Mike Dunleavy in November of 2010.

The Pacers had a 25-point frame before as Reggie Miller had 25 points in the final quarter against the New York Knicks in Game 5 of the 1994 Eastern Conference Finals. He finished with 39 points that night in a win. But that was the postseason — Nwora's record is for a regular season outing.

The Pacers acquired Nwora at the trade deadline in February. He has grown into a more well-rounded player since Indiana traded for him and is a big part of Indiana's bench. He displayed that growth and importance on Saturday to keep the Pacers in the game against the Hawks.
