3 people shot on Indy’s south side

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD are investigating after three people were shot early Wednesday morning on the south side. Police believe a man shot himself, and two others were shot while attempting to stop him.

According to IMPD, at around 12:40 a.m. they responded to a hospital for a report on a walk-in person shot. When they arrived, they found a man and woman with gunshot wound(s).

Another man who was shot was found in the hospital’s parking lot.

IMPD believes one of the individuals’ gunshot wounds was self-inflicted, and the other two people were shot while trying to stop him. They believe the incident took place in the 300 block of Sandra Lane.

One of the individuals was detained by police and taken to another hospital for a psych evaluation.

The other individuals have since been released from the hospital.

“This is all domestic related. All parties involved are currently accounted for and we do not believe there is any immediate threat to the neighborhood at all,” said IMPD Capt. Don Weilhammer said.

“While we did not receive any calls on any shots fired out here. It is possible someone may have heard or saw something but were afraid to call initially.
